Universal Apostolic Preferences are the fruit of a process of discernment lasting almost two years. Confirmed by Pope Francis and promulgated by Father General Arturo Sosa SJ in February 2019, they are to serve as a guide for all Jesuits and Jesuit partners for the next ten years. The new Preferences are four areas vital for our world today. We invite you to learn more and take action with us!

1. To show the way to God through the Spiritual Exercises and Discernment.
2. To walk with the poor, outcasts, and victims of violence in a mission of justice and reconciliation.
3. To accompany young people in the creation of a hope-filled future.
4. To collaborate in care for our common home.

In an era marked by fundamentalism, we strive to embody a faith that confronts emerging questions with honesty and debates them with sincerity and openness. Through these Apostolic Preferences, we seek to open ourselves to renewal and strengthen our identity as part of the Church—a Church that is a field hospital, a Church that goes out to the frontiers. It is a Church where wounds are bandaged, hearts are healed, and love is once again made possible.
