At Xavier Jesuit School, Learning Never Stops

As we pass through this extremely challenging and volatile situation, there is a strong belief among the school members that it is our duty to ensure that learning never stops.

On 20th March this year, the schools were ordered closed again due to the surge in COVID-19 cases. However, unlike last year, we were able to transit more quickly and smoothly from face-to-face learning to distance and online learning. Teachers have worked individually and collectively to provide meaningful online learning experience and manageable take-home activities for the students. Students on the other hand were given avenues to voice out their suggestions in addressing various factors affecting these modes of learning. In turn, they put more value to the education that they are receiving at this new normal.

The school is greatly aware that these modes of learning are still challenged with many external factors such as poor network service, lack of phone credits, sudden power interruptions, lack of mobile devices, insufficient digital skills, student’s location, students’ attitude and dispositions, and family’s support. But despite all these hindrances, both our teachers and students try to seize every opportunity just to make the most of distance and digital learning. In fact, many of them find both distance and online learning fun, helpful, and immensely valuable, especially at this time. Nevertheless, we cannot discount that the whole school community yearns for face-to-face classes to resume and for smiles and laughter to come back and fill the empty classrooms once again.

COVID or not, Xavier Jesuit School aims to ensure the continuity of quality education and pursuit of human excellence among the students — be it in a face-to-face learning, distance learning, or online learning.
